Engage vs ZeroBounce
Engage vs ZeroBounce — Find + Verify in One, or Clean a List You Already Have?
ZeroBounce is one of the highest-rated email verifiers on the market (4.8/5, 588 reviews) — and deservedly so. If you already have a list and want to clean it before a campaign, it is excellent: accurate, easy, trusted by teams for years. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
But there is a job it does not do: finding the email in the first place. ZeroBounce validates addresses you bring; it does not discover them. Engage does both — it finds the email and verifies it will deliver, in one step. Different job, different tool.
The Microsoft 365 problem every verifier hits
Here is where "verify" gets hard. Standard verification does an SMTP check (RCPT TO) against the mail server. On Google, that is honest. On Microsoft 365, the server returns a 5.4.1 error that is identical whether the mailbox exists or not — and it is the same from any IP. Microsoft does this on purpose (anti-enumeration).
So every SMTP-based verifier ends up guessing on O365 and catch-all domains. It shows up as "unknown" or as a catch-all you cannot resolve. Even the best verifiers feel this: users report that catch-all addresses need a 24-hour re-validation pass and sometimes come back as false positives — which is not automation-friendly when you are trying to build a list now.
What you get with Engage
Engage doesn’t guess on Microsoft 365 — the inboxes most tools bounce on. You get a clear yes or no, not a shrug and not a "we’ll know in 24 hours". The whole market is moving toward fewer of those "unknowns" — it’s why people switch tools — and Engage is built for that from day one, on the hardest inboxes of all.
What we consider table-stakes (and match)
The things good tools already do right — we do too, on purpose: you only pay for emails you can actually use (pay-per-verified); credits that do not vanish on you; provider detection (Google / Microsoft 365) surfaced, not hidden.
So this comparison is not "we are cheaper" — it is "find + verify in one, with a definitive answer on O365."
Which should you pick?
- You already have a clean-ish list and just need to scrub it → ZeroBounce is a great verifier.
- You need to find B2B emails AND know they will deliver — especially on Microsoft 365-heavy lists → Engage does it in one step, with a definitive O365 answer instead of an "unknown".
Most teams doing outbound need both finding and verifying. Doing them in two tools (find in one, clean in ZeroBounce) works — but you pay twice, wait on catch-all re-checks, and still guess on O365. One step, one answer.
